Pupils say farewell to headteacher
Liz Blakemore who is retiring as head of Raglan Primary School
Liz Blakemore who is retiring as head of Raglan Primary School

PUPILS of Raglan Primary School bade farewell to their popular headteacher of the past 14 years.

At a special Easter and farewell service held at the village's St Cadoc's Church, pupils gave moving renditions of their singing and musical abilities to the congregation which included many parents and friends.

Liz Blakemore was originally appointed as head of Raglan Infants School in 1992 and later she became head of the amalgamated primary school three years later.

Margaret Davies, chairman of the school governors said: "Raglan Primary School is a lively and happy place that is down to the leadership qualities of Mrs Blakemore.

"Over the past 12 years that I have known Mrs Blakemore, both as a parent and as a governor, its always struck me that she is kind, caring and most of all special and in essence that also sums up the school, as well as the woman we are honouring today.

Mrs Blakemore has given us a wonderful ethos, a quality which we are rightly proud off and what a wonderful legacy we are left with."

Mrs Blakemore, after being given a special "This Is Your Life" style book said: "Its hard to believe that its just over 14 years since I was appointed as head to this school.

"And because it's a small community so many children have been through our doors and gone onto do wonderful things and take the time to drop in on us.

"That sort of comment makes all the hard work feel worthwhile."
